The Top 10 Things The Game Industry Can Learn from Film Production
Boom. Right there, #1: Hire an Assistant Director. People get it man. I know you think it seems like some sort of extra expense. I know you dont know enough about film to understand what it is I do, or why I’m important, but I just am, okay? I dont know how many producers I’ve talked to before a project, who claim “We cant afford you. We dont really need an AD, we have a producer and a Production Coordinator, so we’ll be fine.” And then proceed to spend 3 times the amount my rate was, on overtime! So frustrating. And then they tell me “Well, least we saved money not hiring an AD.”
…
As both a producer of movies, and video games, I think this thing’s pretty spot on.
