A Question.
Now granted, this is on a larger scale, but for all those ADs and Producers out there, I’m curious. What do you do when a fully funded project starts up, brings you aboard, and gives you the script, only to read it and realize its complete trash?
Its has money. Its feasible under the budget. And they’re hiring you to pull it off. But its not like, boring, and you can make some...

lifeandtimesofafilmmaker replied to your post: Script Complaints Part… 3?
Griffin. I know you’re pissed Val is having a great time in NY… But c’mon now. Did someone actually use that Dr. Libido name or are you just anger-teasing. It’s like an angerbang except not as satisfying or fun. Just funny.
Yep. Dr. Libido, the sex therapist. Thats for the film in Paris. I missed out on the short...

Script Complaints Part... 3?
Okay so I’m not going to knock you because you wrote a script. Writing something from start to end is extremely hard, and no matter the quality, the fact that you got it done is something. That being said, and with the onslaught of scripts I’m going through, some other bits of advice I can give you.
- Stick to the same tense. Careful of your was and is, and is going to.
- There,...

January
Val is out bouncing around Brooklyn and meeting with important peoples. I’m currently typing with tea and toast with a little butt smooshed up against me. Turns out nightmares are scary and we’re safer in dads bed. Which is alright. It may have not helped my sleep, but it certainly helped my mood. And I currently have… 5 scripts to go through, 3 breakdowns and only one of them...

Sorry, I know its been quiet here.
We’re in a whole lot of pre production over a few things. And Val is over in NY right now kicking ass. So I’ll try to post something interesting soon and… then hopefully have some fun behind the scenes on whatever job hires us first!
A $250 billion per year loss would be almost $800 for every man, woman, and...

MPAA Directly & Publicly Threatens Politicians Who... →
wilwheaton:
Reinforcing the fact that Chris Dodd really does not get what’s happening, and showing just how disgustingly corrupt the MPAA relationship is with politicians, Chris Dodd went on Fox News to explicitly threaten politicians who accept MPAA campaign donations that they’d better pass Hollywood’s favorite legislation… or else:
“Those who count on quote ‘Hollywood’ for support need to...

The best part about Producing right now...
Is when I’m about to drop the script on some Fan boy Actors and crew members so they know what we’re about to do soon.
And an NDA. Silence is golden. And enforceable by man eating lawyers.

I mean, he is always my jam year round, but sometimes my brain snaps and I’m like MOAR BOWIE. And then everyone in my life starts to hate me for that period of time because I run around singing Suffragette City on a constant loop.

A few notes on the importance of PAs
I’m on a shoot that wants to use all unpaid PAs.
No. Unpaid directors? Sure. I’m all about that. Don’t pay the director. Ever. That’s fine with me.
Unpaid PAs? No. As in “never.” The karma you built up from paying everyone on set including the directors but not the PAs is so epically bad that you shouldn’t even risk it.
And using using...
